EgeGaz Announces Arrival of 500th LNG Vessel at Aliağa Terminal
EgeGaz announced that its Aliağa Terminal reached a new milestone on 11 December 2023 when it received its 500th LNG vessel. The arrival was marked with an event held at the terminal, where a group of guests gathered to celebrate. During the event, EgeGaz chair and general manager İbrahim Akbal thanked his listeners for their presence on this special occasion. He went on to provide an overview of the LNG market both globally and in Türkiye and highlighted the significance of the EgeGaz LNG terminal and its operations.
Akbal pointed out that EgeGaz is not only the first private sector investment in Türkiye’s national natural gas system but also has the country’s only privately-owned LNG terminal. He stated that EgeGaz ranks among the top-tier terminals in the Mediterranean, boasting both high capacity and state-of-the-art facilities. Akbal recapped EgeGaz's impressive track record of innovation and firsts in the national market. As the first private investor in the sector it is also the first to secure a license, to import LNG, to source imports from Qatar and the USA, and to be the owner of a terminal capable of accommodating colossal Q-flex and Q-Max LNG ships.
As one of Türkiye's three largest natural gas entry points, the EgeGaz Aliağa terminal makes a significant contribution to ensuring a stable national supply. Its impressive daily gasification & dispatch capacity of 40 million Sm3 allows it to meet 17-23% of the country's natural gas needs during periods of peak demand.
Besides serving the national natural gas pipeline network, the terminal is also equipped to load LNG onto both trucks and ships.
Committed to delivering uninterrupted, reliable, and high-quality service, the EgeGaz Aliağa Terminal remains in operation 24 hours a day every day of the year.
